I like to be in America!

Even though I don't watch the television show, Glee, I do however watch the performances of some songs and they recently performed songs from West Side Story. So I decided to head over to Youtube and watch the original movie from 1961 to see how their performances matched up. The songs Glee did from WSS are:  Tonight, Something's Coming, Somewhere, A Boy Like That, & America.

50 years later, while the actors are different, the songs and performances are still flawless and are still classically executed.

The beauty of B&W editing

Nothing feels better then attacking a discolored picture and making it instantly classic and gorgeous simply by clicking, "Make B&W," or whatever your editing software says. Since my personal laptop has been dead (*cue dramatic sniffle*) for four months, and the family laptop has NO photo editing software, I've used Picnik and WOW what an awesome program it is. Below are some examples of some black and white photos I've taken & edited.

Fixing black and white pictures is REALLY easy and there are usually 3 ways you can do it: adjusting the saturation, instant-B&W, or adjusting the threshold. I did all three on all these pictures, simply to make sure I got the perfect B&W image.

Serving seems easy. We sit in church, listening to the pastor speak about being God's hands and feet. We leave the service, planning to think of ways we could help; donating to mission work, volunteering our time at a shelter or helping a new mother. Then suddenly...a curve-ball is thrown at us in the form of an unexpected need for help. 
*screech of record player* 


"Hey....um God?"

The verse in Matthew tells us that whatever we do for the least of these, we are doing for the Lord. Even if it is something that seems nearly impossible or that is very trying on our patience.

Happy 18th Birthday to my best friend & sister!!!!!!!!

Today marks the day of my older sister's birth!!!!!!!!! I wasn't around for the first two years (man that must have been boring for her :D) but we've had almost 16 years together :) From Barbies to Saddle Club TO Josh Duhamel and watching cheesy Disney Channel comedies, we've been through lots :) I love her very much, even if I'm annoying and obnoxious or moody or hyper. I love you Meghan <3

Cause and Effect

Cause and effect is the philosophical concept where an action produces a certain response to the action in the form of another event or action.

In my case, lately, the cause and effect in my life has been media and its effect on my younger siblings. Because I have a six year old sister who looks to me as a role model (very scary thought there, eh?), I have to be very careful of how I act, what I wear, the things I listen to/watch, etc. Lately, I have been slacking in that area of accountability so my mother has discussed it with me.

Cause (event): listening to/talking about Justin Bieber, Glee music, Selena Gomez, etc

Effect: Anna constantly chattering on about said subjects.

Consequences: I need to reevaluate what I listen to, watch, talk about, etc. She looks up to me, and to set a good example to her, I have to constantly be aware of when she is watching and listening.

I need summer. Very soon.

I feel bad I haven't posted on here in MONTHS, but with finishing school, not knowing what to post, youth group, church, babysitting, etc.....yup, no time.

And I still have writers block. Sheesh.

So I thought I'd do a BIG long post about the stuff I like. I mean, it is my blog, right? Right.

I love Glee music. I don't watch the show because of all the crap they portray, but I read what happens and buy the music because THEIR VOICES ARE AMAZING <3 Oh my gosh, they're all SO talented! My favorite characters are Puck (<3) Sam, Artie, & Brittany. I ship Puckleberry, and I HATE FINCHEL. (If you don't know, Puckleberry= Puck/Rachel & Finchel= Finn/Rachel)

I really like this store. I dont like EVERYTHING in there, haha, but they have awesome shirts and bracelets, jewelry, etc. I recently bought a bracelet there and I want to get a Justin Bieber bracelet <3 hehehe
I have actually stuck with my guitar playing for almost a year! I'm legit so excited. I really love being able to hear a song and strum along on 'Eli' :) I'm currently learning Unpretty/Pretty & Jar Of Hearts.

lol I do love the Biebs :-) I LOVE his new haircut and just look at that face ^^^ how adorable is he?! haha he is also SO talented and I watched his movie, Never Say Never, and it was ah-MAZ-ing! Love him <3

Track Review: Firework

I do not like Katy Perry. At all. Her songs are horrible and her image is trashy.
I do, however, LOVE this song.

You don't have to feel liek a waste of space. You're original, cannot be replaced.

Those are NOT the lyrics you'd expect to hear from Katy Perry. When people hear Katy Perry, they often think of her raunchy single "I kissed A Girl". And I am IN NO WAY CLAIMING TO BE A FAN OF KATY PERRY. However, this song is beautiful and has such a positive message that I feel that this song is an uplifting, encouraging song. Despite the artist.

Do NOT watch her official music video. It ruins the song and is NOT a good video. I posted the lyric video so you all could hear the song.
