The Necklace Part 2

Wow, I'm so glad people like this! I have been yelled at because I left my mom hanging :P haha, so here is part 2:

I prayed that my necklace wouldn't be found, because we would surely be found. I clutched my younger sister's hand and she whimpered. "Fiona, be quiet!" Hanna hissed, praying. We heard loud yelling and I squeezed my eyes shut. "WHERE ARE THEY?!" The soldiers thundered above our heads. "They went south!" The farmer exclaimed. I smirked, technically we were south...wayyyy down south. I heard them entering the barn and I stiffened. In the barn, the empty stall was the entrance to the tunnel. The farmer moved the cows into the stall with hay so they'd never know. Here's hoping the guise works.

Sorry this is super short, its more like a filler for the story.

The Necklace Part 1

So here is part one :D Hope y'all like it

It all started two years ago. Before that, I had a normal life. I'd go to school in the morning sleepily, then come home to my Mama's homemade bread and honey. My little sister Fiona and I would listen to the radio while Hanna, my older sister helped make dinner. We celebrated the sabbath and Hanukkah. But that was before they decided they didn't like us anymore, and set out to destroy us. Being Jewish, we became the hated race. The misfits. The outcasts. The rejects of society. I'll never forget walking home from school to see Mr.Wilkins being shoved into a car. I watched in horror as I realized why: he was disabled. He was deaf because of a sickness as a child, and could never hear after that. "Get in, kein gute Laune!" A guard shoved him in as Mr. Wilkins looked around startled and confused. I wiped my eyes, hurrying on my way home.

Where am I now? I am five feet underground in a small hole only big enough for three people. Picture a long tunnel running underground from farm to farm. Then picture small hollowed out spaces that we have to crawl into. Along the walls of the tunnel are wooden paneling, and the floor is dirt. That way, God forbid, if soldiers ever find the tunnel, they wont find the hiding spaces. Where I am currently huddling with Fiona and Hanna. Poor Fiona is shivering, she is only five and so confused about it all. Hanna looks ahead, staring at the dirt in front of us mutely. Me? I am clutching my sisters' hands and praying to God that they dont find her. Hanna studies my face gravely. "What?" I ask. "Annie, your necklace!" I instantly feel at my neck, freezing. "Where is it?" I frantically looked around. And I was about to find out how much damage, havoc, and chaos one small necklace could do.

TO BE CONTINUED!

The Necklace Preview

So this is a preview to my new story I am working on, set in Germany WWII. Comment and lemme know if you like it!

Darkness. Cold. Terror.
That's what I felt huddling next to my mother and little sister. This horrible fear never left me, all because of my religion. I am Jewish, and that means I am used to people hating me, sneering at me on the streets, spitting at me. It eats me away inside, but I had to learn to look over it and ignore them.
"Annie, please bring your necklace." "Why?" "We must burn it," "NO!"
And because I refused to burn my necklace, we are now underground listening to the sound of the solidiers overhead. It is all my fault, and its all because of a star necklace.

OKAY, YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO

Martyr's Song

Go and read this book. Right now! This book is such a powerful story, the lessons in it are so clear. This is a book by Ted Dekker (author of Thr3e and The Bride Collector) and even though I didn't particularly enjoy Thr3e, I loved loved LOVED this one.

The story opens with an elderly lady watching a young girl at school. The young girl is plain, homely, and alone. The lady (Eve) offers to make the girl (Marci) beautiful. Once together, Eve tells Marci a story and instructs her to find one character that Marci can be. So the story begins in World War II with (I think) Russian soldiers invading a very small camp. With all the men off to war, the women and children of the village are led by their Father (the priest). The captain is a bitter, hateful, evil man who kicks down concrete crosses (tombstones) and forces the women to take up their crosses, "If you truly do love Christ, carry his cross! Whoever drops the cross is lying and does not love him!" The priest gets beaten for speaking against the solidiers, and a small girl named Nadia steps up and talks to the captain, convincing him to stop, exclaiming "Dont kill him, take me!" The priest oddly hears small children singing a sweet song. (Hence the title of the book)
(*Since I don't want to spoil the book for you, I shall stop there*)

The song mentioned was recorded by Todd Agnew and a children's choir. I adore the song and recommend everyone clicking the link and listening to it:

Makes me cry...truly inspirational story that will show great faith and a child's heart of gold.

Wow, Ronnie...

Me: Are you *shudder* drinking pickle juice?
Ronnie: Umm, yeah! *grinning*
Me: Ugh, thats disgusting!
Ronnie (5 minutes later): ya know, it kinda tastes like cheese when its in your mouth for a while...

LIttle brothers are so much fun...

My Own Ramona

I recently went to see the movie Ramona and Beezus. Such a cute movie! The little girl in it reminded me so much of Anna! Look!

Anna (above)

Ramona

Their personalities are so similar! Quirky, cute, energetic, etc.

Anna & I

Ramona & Beezus

While watching the movie, I felt bad. Mainly because Beezus was mean to Ramona alot of the time and I felt convicted that I acted like that at times as well. My little sister can be annoying, yes (as can my little brother, but thats not what we're talking about), but she is a sweet little sister who adores me and I should set a better example for her. Just today I was washing a mountain of dishes, I looked out the kitchen window and saw Anna jumping around the backyard wearing a much-too-big red raincoat and rubber boots. I had to laugh, she looked like she was having the best time just playing in the rain. She is such a sweetie (90% of the time) and she is so funny! She is currently wearing a gold paisley shirt, a aqua and orange floral skirt, and a pair of burgungy patterned leggins. Oh, and cheetah ballet flats. She looks so adorable though, even though she couldn't match to save her life! Even through being convicted by Beezus's attitude and my sister poking me relentlessly anytime Josh Duhamel came on screen (Love ya Meghan!) I LOVED the movie and cannot wait to get it when it comes out on DVD. If you haven't seen it yet, go see it. Now. Run. GO!

(And no, I'm not getting paid for this blog post, though that would be awesome!)

I have decided to undertake teaching myself to play acoustic guitar. I have always wanted to, so I am willing to pay $80 for a really cool looking acoustic guitar!

If this is God's will, I am so hoping to get it!

Kids say...

...the darndest things!

OK, Anna has been famous for saying hilarious things such as...
  • "Heaven must be totally awesome, it must have like, 20 BATHROOMS!"
  • When at the cottage for vacation, my grandpa mentioned heating something in the microwave and Anna piped up, "What's a microwave?" (We don't have one)
  • At another lake cottage and she tried to open the door to come inside and the wind pushed against her and she hollered, "Turn the wind off!"
  • Playing in her footie PJs, she ran over to the window where sun was pouring through, she cupped her hands and told my mom, "Here, I got you some sunshine!"

So today at dinner, while eating their tacos, her and Ronnie started talking about punching and hitting and my mom tried to steer them to a different topic by pointing out that Jesus never hit or punched anyone. "But he drop kicked someone!" Anna exclaimed. We all looked at her, puzzled by her outburst. "Anna, no he didnt!" Mum said. Anna looked at her, all smug, "Yes he did, he drop kicked satan out of heaven!"

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! OK, I'm done!

One Original Thing

I heard this song by Cheyenne Kimball with my friend Abbey and was listening to the lyrics closely (Force of habit, just to be sure :-P They passed, by the way) and it struck me that I could have written it! I have attempted to write songs along this line before, and I could really relate. I have known people who act like one person around certain people and then act completely different. Or there are the people who just HAVE to dress like Miley; I will admit, I have a few of her brand of tees, but I am talking about the people who practically wear their clothes inside out just so people know 'who' or 'what' they're wearing... is no one original anymore?

I pride myself on being somewhat original in what I wear, at the moment I am wearing a purple vintage looking Fruit Loops tee, a pleated denim skirt, a yellow beaded bracelet with the word 'Magic' written on it, my 20+ silly bands, and black sneakers (just cause I felt like it). Would my outfit make it into Vogue? Would I have Issac Mizrahi asking for my autograph because of what I'm wearing? NOT HARDLY! But it is comfortable (Comfort in clothes is essential to me, as my older sister likes to tease), it is, I think, cute, and it is modest. I am a God original and proud of it. Everyone is an 'original thing' created by God, but why does everyone copy everybody elses fashion?! My older sister Meghan is a great example for me, because she makes her own personal style that works for her look great. She prefers long skirts to short (so do I, most of the time) and she adores long cardigan sweaters. Some might call her look drab or boring (OK, I admit I have called it that, but only when I'm in a bad mood or I'm teasing) but her look screams Meghan and anybody who knows her knows this. Thank you Meghan for being a true original model for me.

Here are the lyrics that stuck out to me:

But everyone's lookin at TV screens
At wannabes that imitate
But I don't wanna be that way,

I'm flippin through channels but I'm still flipping thoughts in my mind,
How can it be that something so sweet is so hard to find?
It seems like everyones trying to be a model in a magazine,
It's not right, no it's so not right!

If you wanna listen to the song, scroll down to my blog music to song number 7 :-)

Enjoy!

The Next Food Network Star

So last night, after watching Tooth Fairy with the family, as the clock struck 9 PM, Meghan and I raced down to the basement where we quickly went to Food Network for the new episode of THE NEXT FOOD NETWORK STAR! Whooooohooooo! We love this show, cuz it's like American Idol for the Food Network! So ever since the beginning, I have been rooting for roughly 4 people. In order they are:
#1 Aarti
#2 Brad
#3 Aria
#4 Tom
Based on their recent performances, I'm totally in the dark about who will win... I am praying Aarti will win. She is great at diverse cooking and she is so sweet! I also like Brad, not only because he is kinda handsome (Hahaha) but because he has really grown during this competition. Aria has been a favorite since the beginning and Tom has been very personable and creative. Here is the lowdown of the contestants:
Aarti Sequiera: Alexis Hernandez: ELIMINATED

Aria Hagan: Brad Sorenson:
Brianna Jenkins: ELIMINATED
Das Smith: ELIMINATED

Doreen Fang: ELIMINATED

Dzintra Dzenis: ELIMINATED

Herb Mesa:
Paul Young:

Watch The Next Food Network Star at 9 PM Eastern Time every sunday!

July 11, 2010

Ooops....

Hehehe... sorry I haven't updated in a while... summer is pretty busy and I'm afraid my blogging has suffered. Gabrielle has been here and I've been too afraid to spend any time away from her because her time has been short! So we're going to watch a 90 MINUTE EPISODE of The Next Food Network Star!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woohooo! Here's hoping Brianna or Paul gets kicked off tonight!!!!!!!!!! We do not like them, so we'll see how it goes!

GO ARIA OR AARTIE! (I'm not sure if I spelled that right :P)

June 29, 2010

Romeo, Romeo...

...where for art thou... LORENZO?

Haha, ok so I didn't exactly get the line right, but it is a little glimpse to what I just saw...

LETTERS TO JULIET!

Great movie! AMAZING! OK, so first I must say at first, I was NOT crazy about the male lead... at all. He was priggish, a dream-killer, and an all around meanie. But as the movie went on, he softened and was a lovable character. I liked the choice of female lead; not because I like that actress (I do not) but because she played it very well. I absolutely LOVED the elderly lady who playeds Claire, she was really good...

This is not a movie review, so I won't mention the stuff that was wrong with it (not that many) so let me end with these hilarious quotes (Well, the ones that won't give away the movie :-p)

Charlie: Patricia is my cousin!

Sophie: How is that legal?

(While hearing the story of Romeo and Juliet)

Charlie: I would have grabbed her from that blasted balcony and been done with it.

(After hearing the story of Claire and Lorenzo having one last picnic)

Sophie: That's so romantic.

Charlie: What's so romantic about eating in the dirt?

Hahahaha, ok, I gotta go do a photoshoot with Autumn and Aunt Jolyn, so in the words of Tigger, TTFN!

June 26, 2010

Wow

So I'm typing this from my friend Autumn's computer...
That means that our Henderson visit is over, CHEO is over, and I will soon be starting my week with the Teter family! I am so excited, but I will miss my mommy the most! Now, as I type, I am looking at my nails that have pink/zebra designs... Autumn is the absolute QUEEN of nail designs... right now she is painting cherry blossoms on Meghan's nails, which is huge, because Meg hates to have her nails done. Autumn and I will be having some awesome times through the next week! WOOHOO!
lUv sArA :)

June 23, 2010

On Our Way...

In a little while, we will be on the road...
Pray for a safe trip and that we get there and none of us get carsick :-)
And we're off!

Flipping Out

Ok, so on Friday, I ordered my new Flip Ultra off of Ebay. It came on monday which was really fast, and I got to practice with it at Living Treasures Animal Park and at Moraine State Park.

Poor Meghan, she hadn't been to LT since she was 3, when a huge black sheep scared her out of her wits. Luckily, she had a much better time now... she was actually giggling with me and we 'adopted' two newborn goats. They must have only been a few days old and they were so fuzzy. The one I liked was all black with white around its feet, and I named it Sox (get it? Uh-Uh? Never mind!) Meghan's goat was white with black spots on its knees and she named it Kneepads! It was so cute! Ronnie made a new friend named Shelvin (Like a cross between Alvin and Shell) and it was a HUGE turtle!

I'll post pictures soon, right now I'm not in the mood.
I'm kinda bummed...
For a reason I won't say.

Left Behind Short Story Part 1

Ok, since I am officially obsessed with the book series Left Behind, I decided to apply that obsession and make up a few new characters! So here is a list of the young main characters and a plot!

CAST OF CHARACTERS: (and how they connect to the books)

Sara Steele; Age 15 (Niece of Rayford Steele) *Played by Sara Gorecki*
Jack Gylehaal; Age 19 (Classmate of Chloe Steele, from Stanford) *Played by Cameron Heidrick*
Missy Barnes; Age 16 (Adopted Niece of Bruce Barnes) *Played by Melissa Nelson*
Lucas Durham; Age 17 (Brother of Hattie Durham)PLOT:

Four average peoples' lives are turned upside down as the rapture happens and they find themselves left behind. Each turning to a relative or friend, they figure out that they all have a web of connections tying each other to the others in the group. Sara and Jack both know the Steeles, who know Hattie Durham, whose brother is a junior journalist, who has emailed Buck Williams, who knows Bruce Barnes, who has an adopted niece Missy who is friends with Sara. If you can figure that out, you'll have no trouble reading my new mini series, LEFT BEHIND-THE NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK. I am also going to try to make a trailer, so stay tuned!

Abigayle Adams

No, that isn't a typo :-) Yesterday, we had a get together with another homeschooling family, the Adams' family. They have Abi, Sadie, Emma, Michael and Ruthie. We had so much fun! We played on her iPod Touch, sketched, played basketball (YOUR TURN! Haha), and also made enchiladas. She is a good friend and we had so much fun! Abi & I (with Anna's peace sign)

I Heart Faces Fix-It-Friday #57

Here is my entry, which I think truned out great considering I'm using editing software that came free on this computer! Here it is: (SO CUTE!)
I used Microsoft Digital Image Standard 2006, which is just a simple little editing program :-) Comparing it to Photoshop or Adobe is like comparing a preschooler's finger painting to a Picasa painting! However, since I am young still, it shall have to do.

Here is the original picture:

First, I rotated it counterclockwise so that the baby was laying down to the left.

Second, I cut just the feet out to hold while I darkened the rest.

Then I inserted the feet and upped the brightness

Lastly, I added the scripture, which made the finished product!

TADA!

Memorial Day 2010 Gardening Extravaganza

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!

That being said, today we got to work on landscaping/gardening.

My wonderful dad is so awesome because in the past year and a half, has made two major things my mom has always wanted:
  • A wooden clothesline. She has wanted one ever since we moved to this house and he made one out of wood and it is so quaint! The whole look of it is so country-ish and cool! She loves hanging her clothes out! It just looks so peaceful with the clothes swaying in the breeze and it just makes the clothes smell oh so good!

  • (2) wooden raised beds for our gardens! Last year we got some good things, but this year is gonna be better! We planted two kinds of tomatoes, some assorted peppers, and I personally planted the zucchini against the front stoop so they would climb up the railing. I toiled in the hot summer sun and in the slight drizzle planting those glorified cucumbers...

Here are some pictures of our gardening day!Anna planting her Pink Girl tomatoes (That's actually the name!) She is so proud of 'her' tomatoes! She was cheerful throughout the entire expierience! She was my hero!See all those plants that look like *gasp* weeds along the stoop? MY ZUCCHINIS! hahahahahaha!Ma and Lil Anna tending their 'green acres'

Check out the muscles! Haha, and his new summer haircut. After I convinced him that Matt Damon has the same haircut, and that Matt Damon plays a spy, he was sold.

(Never doubt my persuasion powers!)

I hope ya'll enjoyed my Memorial Day 2010 Gardening Extravaganza post!
